Recently I was asked to do an interview and live performance for an English program of KCBN (Korean Christian Broadcasting Network) hosted by Pastor Joseph Chu of Pilgrim Church. I’ve had the honor to be on the radio several times in my life, even having a brief stint as a radio DJ in college…and I’ve realized that I will never get used to hearing myself..*cringe* I salute all you DJ’s, newscasters, public speakers, preachers and all others who daily take on the task to communicate eloquently, clearly, and powerfully to the listening world.

BTW, Leonard Bernstein, please don’t roll over in your grave for the way I may have butchered your quote.

Hey friends,
Do you remember back in high school there were moments we’re glad that we’re no longer in high school anymore? But then, there are moments that we wish we could go back. I know for me, those moments include being a part of the Seekers Christian Club at my school and the whole Seekers crew of NYC. All the love, encouragement, and growth I experienced through what many students in my generation had called their second family, has forever impacted many of us to where we are now in our lives and in our faith journeys.
Many of you know that not only am I a Christian, but I became a worship pastor at a church after getting my MDiv at Princeton Theological Seminary as well as being a singer-songwriter with three albums out. I’m not sure if I would’ve even thought any of those things were possible, yet alone think God could use me in that capacity if it wasn’t for Rev. Wendy Calderon and Seekers. It was the first time I met a woman who was a pastor and never knew women could be pastors. She’s an important factor to where I am in my life today. She always encouraged me to see the possibilities in life and in people of every walks of life. To love before you think of judging someone. To know that you’ll never regret giving or serving somebody..never. She taught me to experience freedom like I never had before, to face my fears head on because God didn’t give me life to live it in fear. That He was inviting me to an exciting life with Him and didn’t want me to miss out. And I feel like I have lived without regrets during my 30 years of living and it was because someone like Rev. Wendy and Seekers took the time to show me my true identity and purpose in life during my confusing teenage years…to teach me not to be afraid.
Currently because of the recession, Seekers is in dire need of financial support. The recession has caused financial hardships for many of us, but that’s all the more reason to give and do our part for the present and future members of Seekers. And I agree with Rev. Wendy, that you will never regret the act of giving, especially when it’s to an organization that has selflessly served the youth of NYC for many years now. This may be the first time you’re hearing about Seekers and you’re wondering if you should give. If you believe in organizations that empower, encourage, and enrich the lives of youth to live purposeful and faithful lives, would you consider contributing to Seekers which can easily be done online.
